I have heard Everyday Math referred to as "Every Night Math." This is because every night parents are teaching their children the math they should be learning in school or driving them to tutoring centers to supplement their math education.
We are parents of a 2 1/2 year old son with Autism. We have an ST and a OT and a private ABA therapist and 11.5 hours of Early Intervention ABA therapy. The ST and the OT are ok and our private ABA therapist is great and focused on a comprehensive program, while working with the bozo's of Early Intervention. This weekend we had a semiar about ABA therapy by Christina Burk, at Georgia Court University, in Lakewood, NJ. G-d bless Christina Burk. Well spoken, but not elitist, informative in a clear and functional way that you can take home and use, common sense everyone in the room could relate to, humble but confident, great sense of humor, and didn't miss anything that could stop you from walking out of the seminar and begining a new journey in your therapy with your child. A heart as big as the Grand Canyon.
